[PrOJECT SUMMARY]

AIDING THE PHILIPPINES
IN A TIME OF CRISIS

[BACKGROUND]

In the wake of Typhoon Haiyan in 2013, Pinoy Relief was created to generate awareness, raise funds and create sustainable recovery programs for the victims and communities affected by the devastating natural disaster. Many other non-profits were started around this time specifically for this cause, so Pinoy Relief needed a way to distinguish themselves from the saturated non-profits for the Philippines.

[My Involvement]

With limited time to get the Pinoy Relief name to the masses, through Pulse Creative, brand guidelines were created within a couple days.  A website where people can donate money was designed & developed within 3-4 week timespan.  Within the months, marketing materials were created, from marketing packets to collateral needed for a benefit music concert held at The Theater At Madison Square Garden in New York City.

[BRANDING]

BRANDING A GLOBAL EFFORT

[The Logo]

Blue was the main color chosen to distinguish Pinoy Relief from other organizations started due to Typhoon Haiyan (most who used the colors of the Philippines flag).  In color theory, blue has associations with hope, so varying shades of blue was implemented through marketing items for the organization.  The icon was designed in the style of a "first aid" cross, with the country formation of the Philippines as the vertical axis.

DELIVERING A CRITICAL MESSAGE

[WEBSITE]

A website was launched within weeks after the typhoon to help raise funds for victims.  It served as a hub for donations, Pinoy Releif's mission statement, social media relating to recovery, and the upcoming benefit concert in NYC.  To broadcast the severity of the disaster, full parallax imagery of the devastation were utilized throughout the website, especially on the homepage.

ON WITH THE SHOWS

[PROMO & MERCH]

In 2013, a successful benefit concert in New York, NY at the Madison Square Garden Theater was produced to raise money for the Philippines.  Items produced for the show include, but not limited to playbill booklets, promotional posters, merchandise like t-shirts, and production-team essentials like backstage passes.

In late 2014, an "evening of thanks" gala was produced in Manilla, Philippines at the Buddha-Bar.  Both events featured guest appearances and performances from Jennifer Hudson, Pentatonix, Apl.de.Ap, The Plain White T's, A Great Big World, Jessica Sanchez, Dr. Oz, Robert Lopez, and many others.  Approximately $2.9 million dollars in donations within two years were raised, and many successful recovery programs were started within the Philippines.
